Please treat our volunteers with respect. Any rude and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Please note that due to track maintenance in the brick tunnel at Tarrawarra, train rides will go up to a point near the tunnel but not through the tunnel. Our volunteers will be working as hard as possible on this maintenance work, however at this stage we are unable to provide a date for resumption of train rides through the tunnel.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Train rides will still be operating.
Ticket sales
- We recommend you book your ticket online. If you are unable to book online, you may purchase tickets from the Booking office at Healesville Railway Station. Please note, tickets sell out quickly and spaces cannot be guaranteed.
- Yarra Valley Railway has implanted contactless transactions (credit card/EFTPOS), however we will still accept cash payment where necessary.
- You do not need to print your Trybooking eTicket.
Arrival time
- Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked train journey. This gives us time to check you in.
Upon Arrival:
- Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time to ensure you can be checked-in.
- If you have pre-purchased tickets:
- Please present to the Booking Clerk (within Healesville Station Booking Office). You do not need to print your Trybooking eTicket.
- The Booking Clerk will provide you with your souvenir heritage-style Edmondson Ticket.
- If you are purchasing tickets on the day:
- The Booking Clerk will be able to assist you with your booking and provide you with your souvenir heritage-style Edmondson Ticket
- Do not board the train until the Guard invites you onboard.
Seating
- All seating is unallocated. Large groups may not be able to sit together. Please follow the guards instructions.
- Children under the age of 3 without a paid ticket must sit on their parent/guardian’s lap.
Refunds / Changing of booking details or time
- Refunds or changes to bookings cannot be processed at Healesville Station.
- Please contact us via email if you require a refund or change to your booking.
- Refunds will not be provided for late arrival or missed train trips. Please endeavour to arrive at least 15 minutes before the time of your train trip.
- In the event of service cancellations we will transfer your booking or arrange a refund.
- Shortened or incomplete service – no refunds offered.
Health
- If you are unwell or have any cold or flu-like symptoms, please stay home and rest.
- Please contact us via email if you need to change your booking due to health reasons.
Accessibility
- Due to the heritage nature of our Walker railmotor there is limited accessible space.
- Visitors who require mobility assistance are asked to email contact us to discuss support needs.
Animals on train
- Animals are not permitted on the train with the exception of Guide Dogs (Seeing Eye Dogs) and Assistance Dogs.
Children
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Adults/parents/carers accompanying children must supervise and control those in their care at all times.
- Children under the age of 3 without a paid ticket must sit on their parent/guardian’s lap.
Parking
- Parking is available at Healesville Station.
- The journey is a round trip, passengers will not leave the train.
Prams / Strollers
- Prams and strollers are not permitted on the train. Prams and strollers may be left in the Booking Office.
Photography
- On some running days the Yarra Valley Railway carries out photography and/or video recording which may feature visitors on the premises including the train. By booking tickets you agree that the Yarra Valley Railway may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that the copyright in these materials rests with the Yarra Valley Railway.
Toilets/Baby Change
- There are no toilet facilities on our heritage railmotor.
- Toilets are available at Healesville Station. Baby change facilities are located in the Disabled Toilets.
Smoking
- Smoking and vaping is not allowed at the Yarra Valley Railway in any undercover or public area, including all trains, the station platform and public restrooms.
Weather
- Services may be cancelled during extreme weather conditions and when temperature exceeds 35°. When possible we will post on our social media when this occurs. We apologise for any inconvenience.
